How many bowel movements should I be having daily?A healthy bowel should have atleast 2-3 bowel movements daily depending on what you are eating.
-
How many sessions will I need?3-4 sessions close together is always recommended for new clients - within 2 weeks of one another. After your first session, we will be able to give you a treatment plan. Depending on current bowel movements, how compacted or dehydrated the colon is will depend on how many sessions will be recommended to begin with. This will also influence the ongoing sessions whether it be weekly, monthly, 3 monthly etc. For example a bowel that has been compacted for many years will need a series of 6-8 sessions close together and then weekly until bowel movements return to normal and colon health is restored.

How long does a treatment take? Please allow 75 minutes for your initial session. This consists of a consultation about your current situation regarding the online questionnaire, symptoms and goals. Initially, 25 minutes will be spent on the table and we allow time for use of the toilet/dressing afterwards. For followup sessions we ask you to allow 50 minutes. This will consist of 25 minutes on the table with time to dress/undress and use the toilet. Extra time can be added if needed, this can be determined by your therapist. If you find that your body needs the extra time on the table to release or your needing extra time in the toilet afterwards, there are 90 minute sessions available to book. We do not recommend theses until you have had your initial consultation and treatment.
-
Can I have a treatment whilst on my period?Yes! In fact colon hydrotherapy can help with a wide range of symptoms you may have whilst menstruating. We just ask that you use a tampon or cup whilst receiving the colonic.

By removing these from the body it allows the beneficial bacteria to have a cleaner environment to thrive. This achieves an optimal balance of bacteria within the body.

-
What is the difference between Colon Hydrotherapy and an Enema? An enema way is a great at home treatment of the lower colon introducing 2L of water into the colon and releasing on the toilet. It is also cost effective and beneficial when using coffee or other therapeutic implants. We also sell some of the Happy Bum Co range in Clinic which includes enema kits. If you are interested in these we are able to demonstrate at your session. Colon Hydrotherapy is able to reach the beginning of the colon. With a large amount of water being flushed in and out during 1 session this allows the release of waste matter from deep within the body which goes straight into the disposable tube into the waste pipe.
-
Is it painful? In short, no. Depending on how impacted the colon is, clients may experience some discomfort initially. Gas within the colon can result in minor cramping. The insertion of the disposable speculum only takes a few seconds, which can be described as firm pressure, which dissipates soon after. After the initial release of compaction the sessions should be relaxing and enjoyable.
-
Is it safe?Client safety is our utmost priority which is why your session will be accompanied by a fully qualified Colon Hydrotherapist at all times. At The Colonic Club we use a closed system which means your insertion is done by a qualified therapist who also controls the water pressure and temperature. The pressure the machine uses is monitored and will only be a maximum of 0.5 PSI. For reference - if you've ever needed a colonoscopy they use a pressure of 8 PSI. A thorough health questionnaire is requested upon booking so if there are any contraindications you will not be able to receive treatment.
-
What preperation do I need to do for my session? Before your session we ask you to drink at least 3L of water daily to hydrate the body. If your body is dehydrated your first sessions could just be re-hydrating the colon with no waste matter removed which some clients can find disappointing. If you are having your session later in the day we ask you not to eat 2-3 hours prior and light meals beforehand. If you have been having trouble with constipation we do ask you to reach out so products can be taken prior, this will allow you to have the most successful treatment.
-
What should I do after my session? We advise to consume liquids such as clean filtered water, cold pressed juices, bone broth, herbal teas. Avoid eating raw vegetables after the treatment, steamed vegetables and fruit is fine. Reduce meat consumption, sugar, caffeine and alcohol intake.
-
When will my next bowel movement be?Depending on your transit time through your colon your next bowel movement can come 1-3 days later. This will also give you a greater understanding of how your gut is moving.
